Basic Crane and Rigging
The majority of crane-related incidents are the result of operator error. This course is designed to introduce learners to the fundamental concepts, hazards, hazard control measures, and safe work procedures associated with operating overhead cranes. It aligns with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code, as well as recognized industry best practices.
By the end of this course, participants should have a solid understanding of the basic principles of rigging a load and operating an overhead crane safely.
Learners should note that this course alone does not constitute complete training. Workplaces are expected to apply and integrate this information when developing their own company-specific Overhead Crane Operator Program, as part of their broader Health and Safety Management System.
Because policies, procedures, and equipment may vary from site to site, some details in this course may not apply to every workplace.
